Review : Liverpool vs Everton

The final result Liverpool against Merseyside neighbor, Everton was 2-2. It was not a pleasant result but it is better than nothing. One point is better than nil.

The afternoon (local time) start emotionally with return of Kenny Dalglish, first game at home since he left Liverpool in 1991. He was give warm welcome by supporters at Anfield.

Warm welcome for the King
The game start with sense of optimism since Kenny lead the team. As his trend, there were surprised in his lineup since Gerrard are out due to red card, and Carra is injured. He brought youngster Jay Spearing to help provide the momentum in his side along with Martin Kelly who retained his place at right back. The reds attacks from the start and as early as the first 30seconds, the goalie of Everton was tested by Fernando Torres who got the ball from Dirk Kuyt flicked from Agger's diagonal pass.

The reds maintain the fast tempo in the game and as a result on 29th minutes they got the breakthrough of what Dalglish was hoping for when Raul Meireles gave a power shot towards the goals and secure the first goal for Liverpool.

For the remaining 15 minutes of the first half, Liverpool got more chances and there was a few nerves moments when they tried to score but unfortunately the result remain 1-0 to the end of first half. However, there was no doubt it had been an impressive 45minutes for Liverpool.

Second-half wasn't good moment for Liverpool when they were forced to replace the ill Daniel Agger with Kyrgiakos. Liverpool was better with Agger at the back. They were than tied for 1-1 just a few minutes after second game start and before they were recovered from the shock of conceding they found themselves behind on 52 minutes.

Luckily, at 66th minutes, the Everton goalie Tim Howard brought Maxi down and gave penalty to Liverpool. Later on Dirk Kuyt confidently rescued Liverpool for 2-2. The results remain till end of the match.

To conclude on the game, Liverpool was better than previous match against Blackpool. Besides, most of the players gain back their confidence. For example, Torres is rarely talk to media about his opinion on the club but after the game of Merseyside he spoke to media that he is confident with current team and believe Dalglish could rise up Liverpool once again. It is about the matter of time. Furthermore, Dirk Kuyt also has same opinion with Torres. He insisted that the players are desperate to turn Liverpool's season around and has vowed to do his utmost to get the team back to winning ways. He is also convinced that fortunes will soon start to turn for the better under new manager Kenny Dalglish.

Well, for overall evaluation, I would choose Fernando Torres as Man of the Match for his hardworking and effort during the game. Though he did not score a goal but he had many chances to blow Everton off. In addition, I do believe that soon Liverpool will be back to their level. They used to play beauty football and yet they are going to do it again.

The scorers of the day, Meireles and Kuyt
